Join a role where you can make a real difference to rural health. We're looking for a compassionate and skilled Rural Hospital Medicine Specialist, Senior Medical Officer or Medical Officer to join our Inpatient Unit team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.

You'll Provide:

• Comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients within the Inpatient Unit and associated services.
• Clinical consultations and coordinated care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Interpretation of diagnostic investigations and performance of appropriate clinical procedures.
• Collaborative management of patient care alongside nurses, allied health professionals, and regional healthcare partners.
• Minimal cover for community Urgent Afterhours Care during your rostered shifts.
• Safe, evidence-based medical practice focused on quality outcomes and patient wellbeing.
• Participation in clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and service development activities.
• Clinical leadership, teaching, and mentoring opportunities for junior staff and learners.
• Supervision of Rural Medicine Immersion Programme students.

Ideally, You'll Bring:

• A recognised medical qualification and current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Broad clinical expertise with the ability to manage a wide range of medical presentations in a rural hospital setting.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
• The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and develop strong clinical partnerships.
• Experience or interest in teaching, coaching, and supporting the professional development of others.
• Rural hospital or community-based healthcare experience would be advantageous.
• A commitment to continuous professional development, clinical excellence, and quality improvement.
